wall scrawler

Jesus, this collection is like retro porn for me. Just seeing the Magnum 44 and the Pilot Jumbo bring back so many memories of me freezing my ass off to get up.

The fact that there are dedicated tagging pens now is just amazing.. Me of 15 years ago is sooo jealous.

steady.. steady..

Alright, so I know I’m jinxing it, but I’ve been really pleased with this FireGL X2 so far.

Unlike EVERY OTHER ATI CARD I’VE EVER HAD IN THIS MACHINE, it is stable. No crashes. No lockups. It just works. And while the fan is huge, god, the peace in here after the wonky fan of the QuadroFX I had.. bliss.

bass for your face

You know, one advantage of a basement office is I have now effectively turned the entire house into a giant subwoofer. (Yeah, that last link is pretty tangential, sue me).

party days cause there are smiles

I know, I know, I’m terrible, I never update, blah blah. It’s been a hard week or so.

Anyway, let’s keep to the same subject as that of the post that just embarassingly scrolled off the front page - Mondo just alerted me to the Happy Lesson Final OVA.

amalgam steel

It’s been a real anime-packed couple of days with Sam. Yesterday, we finished off Happy Lesson Advance which was a fairly predictable “harem” show, and today the Azumanga Daioh volume 2 DVD arrived. A!

Before we watched some of that though, we sat and watched the first episode of Samurai Champloo. I’d already watched it, but damn, I could watch it over and over. It just oozes style. I really wish it wasn’t licensed yet - not because I don’t think it’s worth spending money on, but because I bet it’s going to be a long wait before the DVDs are out.

artsycraftsy

Some people feel the need to ask the question “but are videogames art?”. A quick glance at this article and subsequent comments should be enough to answer the question.

two thumbs up

Sam has started leaving reviews on ebgames. Witness “BEST TILL SCARED” for Aladdin for example. So I think I’m going to badger him until he agrees to review things on his own website..

clickety clack click clack

The other day, the keyboard I’ve used for the past 5 years died inexplicably. Well, it didn’t die completely, it’s just that a few keys refused to work. It was strange, as it was working perfectly well the night before. I missed that keyboard; it was still a membrane model, but it was a Key Tronic and semi-decent compared to your typical keyboard.

Looking around, I saw a lot of butchered keyboards - you know, with the big enter key and the shrunken slash. Those suck. What I really wanted was to go back to the PS/2 keyboard I had in university, or the IBM terminal I had to borrow when I sold that PC.

I knew that pckeyboard.com sold new buckling spring keyboards, but I didn’t want to pay 50 bucks + shipping, so I decided to hit eBay.

I am now the very happy owner of a Model M keyboard. I paid $2 for it. Of course, being the 6lb beast that it is, shipping was 10 bucks, but still.

The reason this post is so long instead of just writing “Hey, I got a new keyboard”? It’s a joy to type on a Model M again.

But God DAMN this is loud in an empty basement office..

can you feel it, angels?

Yeah yeah, bunch of stuff to mention, but for now, here’s this.

Cracktros converted to Flash.

digital birthday card

It’s Sam’s birthday today (finally, I get to play the Super Mario All-Stars cartridge that’s been sitting here for a week!), and for the past couple of years I’ve surprised him with a special desktop wallpaper on his computer. This year though, I handed the Photoshop reins over to Amy, because I upped the ante, by surprising him with a custom GBA demo.

He woke up to this on the SP.

(You can play it on an emulator. I reccommend Visual Boy Advance)
