I’m seriously considering hiring a hitman to take out Arsenal’s starting team before the game, after the Hammers pulled off a win today. It’s not that I don’t have faith in Leeds, I’d just like a bit more security.
Note for the humor-impaired: I’m not really going to hire an assassin. I’ll do it myself.

And conversely, WTF? Damn you, Durkin.
Really, I’m not sure if I’m going to have any fingernails left in a fortnight.

TFFT. But I’ll be happier when it’s a mathematically certainty we avoid the drop.

I’m not sure what it is with me and CPUs. I guess I should always order two, because I’m going to mess up the install first time.
It appears that the motherboard was not to blame for Sam’s PC dying - although NewEgg was happy to send me a new one. No, the CPU must have died, because I popped the new one in and things booted up just fine.
I’m assuming it overheated - I did realise we were running without a case fan, and I was just using the crappy thermal pad on the AMD heatsink. Now we have a Speeze fan and I used Arctic Silver this time.
Of course, I just looked at NewEgg and saw the CPU is down 3 bucks since I ordered it on Monday..

One of the arguments that people opposed to homeschooling often make is that by taking your child out of the public school system, you are depriving that school of funding.
This annoys me.
First, this is a budget issue. If my child is not in the school and is therefore not using any of the school’s resources, any reduced funding they received would be balanced out by reduced costs. The problem is when a school district makes incorrect assumptions and overspends before they know how many pupils will be attending for the year.
Secondly, I *do* contribute financially to the local school system, even though my son doesn’t use any of their resources - I have to pay an 8% education surtax in this school district on my state taxes no matter what.
What’s especially annoying is that this year there are lots of extra tax breaks against the cost of school supplies. Unless you’re a homeschooler.
