L plates

Saw this test over at Zannah’s site, and I get these results. I’m not quite sure what they mean, but they look fairly well balanced.

Except the whole interpersonal thing. Go away.

River Danes

River Phoenix has come back from the dead and is now going under the name Claire Danes. Don’t believe me? Check it.

Sign up for Gang-Wars and join the coolpowers gang.

Because I’ll break your arms if you don’t.

We must take Hong Kong!

god damn it

And then we lose to Bolton. They’re at the bottom of the table. “Frustrating” is not the word for it.

surprised me

In surprise news of the day, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was pretty good. I really wasn’t looking forward to sitting through it, especially when I was told it was almost 3 hours long, but I actually ended up quite enjoying it. And Jason Isaacs is in it. He’s dreamy. It’s definitely better than the first - it helps that the kids are older and not quite so cringeworthy. Sam of course loved it, which is all that counts anyway.

The books are still crap, however.

Also, I was joking about Jason Isaacs being dreamy. I do like him though, with his “I’m British and I’m a bastard” looks.

loyal supporters

Now THIS is more like it. Smithy rams 4 goals and his first senior hat-trick down the throats of his detractors. I think it’s a marvelous result for Leeds, and not just the scoreline - it shows that even though times are tough, losing a goal in the first minute won’t kill them off. And this without 8 first team players.

Downsides? The Chief is now injured, so our defense doesn’t look that strong. Please TV, bring in Batty as a defensive midfielder! It’s great to be giving the new kids a chance, but we need some experience too.

phew

A bit of welcome relief for Leeds, and their fans. A pretty good performance too which is important - though it still looked like we backed off too much in the second half. I’m still worried about what El Tel will do to the squad in January when the transfer window opens up again - he’s said he wants to bring more people in, but who does that mean the end of?

expensive pad and paper

Well this is pretty cool, a good use of the tablet PCs that are coming now. Tablet PCs could be big deals for salespeople, surveyors, plant supervisors, etc. replacing the clipboard and pen, but I’m really not sure if these things are going to catch on.

The free version works just fine on regular PCs - saving included, and although I haven’t tried it with a pen (my Wacom’s unplugged), it looks like a nice little sketching app for those times when you don’t want to fire up a big tool like Photoshop. MS Paintbrush is not, and never has been, an option.

I’ve really cut down on the swearing in my posts, haven’t I? But in this case, I have to fall back to an old chant from the terraces:

What the fuck is going on?

You go into injury time and concede 2 goals in 4 minutes? Against Sheffield United? Seriously, what the fuck? I’m not a boo boy (ever since a miserable away game at Barnsley and some big bastard told us to “shut the fuck up” because “we’re still fucking Leeds”, he made his point and I agreed), but El Tel may just need to go. Leeds don’t have a good track record with the glamour bosses (Brian Clough.. hah), and this is looking like more of the same. We’re weak in midfield but he won’t play the best holding midfielder we have (and still one of the best defensive midfielders around in my mind), David Batty. He’s fit, Venables just won’t play him.

The crowd trouble was no surprise. The fixture had been talk of the Service Crew site for a long time. Ripping out the seats could only have been an improvement - Bramall Lane is a shit pile.

There’s talk from some of the SC boys about it being a good thing if we get relegated because it’ll clear out the part-timers and might cause ticket prices to fall and the atmosphere will be better. Idiots. It’s just nostalgia talking, because while the promotion season was amazing, the years before that were fucking miserable. Nobody wants to see that again.

I think the reason I’m especially bitter about this is that I wasn’t listening to the game today, just watching scores. Once it had said “full time” at 1-0 I thought we’d won - and now I come back later and find this.

*sigh*

miaow mixing a drink

I’m pretty sure the cat is an alcoholic. Whenever I’m drinking a beer, he’s always trying to get at the bottle. One would assume that if I actually gave him a drink it’d kill him, but I do let him sniff the empty bottle and the bottle top.

At least he’s not a shandy drinker.
