cr cr cr crappy

Update on the car: we had it jumped, it took the charge and started up, it was left running, but then when it was stopped, it wouldn’t start again. Clock and everything were still on though.. so it didn’t seem like the battery (which isn’t covered by the warranty) to us, and we had the car taken to the nearest Kia dealership.

Which is 200 miles away. And it turns out it was the battery. So now we have to pay for that AND arrange to get down there and pick it up.

k k k kia

I forgot to mention, our POS car wouldn’t start today. Battery appears to be dead, for no apparent reason.

Awesome.

let the bodies hit the floor (I know, I’m sorry)

I wouldn’t normally link to an NYT article, but this story just amazed me. “Gross negligence” doesn’t even begin to describe it.

THE MAN

I AM THE EFFING MAN.

It was my idea to bend the mattress lengthways, and to keep trying when we failed the first time. We did indeed succeed in getting the mattress upstairs, hurrah, hurrah.

My Gillmen weren’t dead, but they were all crying, cold, in the dark, and without air. They were soooo pissed at me. Then two of them died. I expect the rest to die the next time I start up, as they don’t have any food.

Oh, we rented GTA3. Yay. It’s scratched to hell and crashes about 5 minutes into it. Boo.

keep on movin

So we’re still not properly moved.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, we’re on the move to a rented house, in the town we lived in when we were first married. It’s not a bad little house, and the rent’s decent.

But of course this is us, and nothing goes smoothly.

Item the first: Our bed and boxspring won’t fit up the damn stairway. Again. We had this problem in Washington, only with a different bed. Futon here we come.

Item the second: The wireless internet is all hooked up, but doesn’t appear to be very speedy. It should be 512kbps, but it appears slower than the 128kbps on this here in-law connection. Have to call and make sure they activated the right service..

Item the third: All my fun stuff (PC, PS2, Dreamcast) is over in the house, we’re I’m not, so I have nothing to do tonight, wah. And my Gillmen are probably dead by now too.

the carmack and me

Hey, The Carmack agrees with me:

“The fragment level processing is clearly way better on the [Radeon] 8500 than on the Nvidia products, including the latest GF4.”

I’ve been saying the same thing ever since I had to write some fancy shader stuff on the new Radeons a while ago.

updates

So I’ve done a bit of work on the site, it should look a bit better in Mozilla, but not perfect. Oh well.

What I have added is a permanent link to the forums, as well as bringing back access to the article database via the dropdown menus above. These work in IE6 and Mozilla, haven’t tested anything else yet.

Everything is very much a work in progress, of course.
