Comstock has some US flag images for you to use, waiving their usual fee. I didn’t actually use any of those for the flag above, I just couldn’t find the right fit, so I went to some of my existing stock photos.

I learned this last week, and didn’t think to post until now. After the attacks, I, like many others thought about giving blood. However, upon reading the eligibility guidelines, I discovered that I can’t give blood in the US, because I “during 1980 - 1996 spent a total time that adds up to 6 months or more in the United Kingdom”. I wonder if this means I can’t be an organ donor either?
I’ve heard similar from friends in continental Europe too. I guess Britain was the only nation that didn’t think BSE was a big deal.

In the aftermath, this is the most moving thing I’ve heard about - the Changing of the Guard was.. changed.
If you’re thinking this is “nice, but, well, not that impressive?” - think again. Look at the deeper history here, the US national anthem’s lyrics were being written while under attack by the British. The ideas surrounding the formation of the United States are rooted in beating the British. In older Britons, there has always been partial resentment of the Americans stemming from WWII (”could have helped sooner” and “came here and took our women with their flashy clothes and cigarettes and nylons!” being the two popular complaints). And with everything surrounding Buckingham Palace being steeped in tradition, things just do not change.
So a gesture like this is truly amazing, and makes me proud to be British.
Of course, the reaction of my home nation to this makes me proud to call myself an American, too.

Everybody pulls out their favorite Nostradamus prophecy at times like this. Those doing the rounds right now aren’t even real Nostradamus prophecies.

I’m enraged when I see the media fall over themselves to report on the latest details of the investigation into who exactly did this. Will they ever learn to STFU and not tip these people off immediately? We shouldn’t be told “the FBI has requested search warrants in Florida”, we should be told “Early this morning the FBI raided several homes in the Miami area and caught the bastards”.

If you’re concerned about a friend or relative in New York City, or another area affected by the attacks, or if you’re in the area and want to let people know you’re okay, check in here.

I am in shock over the attacks, literally stunned. My thoughts and prayers are with the countless victims and their families. Nothing I can say can even begin to matter in the wake of this horrific catastrophe. If you can, please go to your local blood donation center and give blood. What a senseless waste.

I’ve been trying to think what to say about the horrendous terrorist attacks today. There’s nothing that can be said, other than that these are despicable cowards.

Tecmo’s Tomonobu Itagaki, Team Ninja’s team leader and the man behind the Dead or Alive series, lays the smack down on Tekken.
