beerboys

So I’m sitting here drinking Samuel Adams Summer Ale. In a few hours, I will grow a full beard, my operating system will transmogrify into DEC UNIX, and I will find tickets to a Renaisaance faire in my back pocket.

Actually, I’m relaxing after finishing up my job. As in, for good. While it’s common knowledge to some people, you might not know but today was my last day at my present (old?) job, and we’re moving to..

..Texas

Not much more to say really. I’m not storming out. I haven’t been fired. It’s just time for me to move on. More news as it happens, stay tuned.

garbagetruck from hell

Oh! OH! I completely forgot about this, and it’s only in these moments before sleep that I can recall the true horror of the Garbage Truck from Hell.

We were on our way back from a shopping trip when out of NOWHERE (well, a sidestreet, to be honest) this huge garbage truck pulls up. I mean, HUGE. Bigger than a regular sized one. But we noticed it because it was black, with soot. Blackened from the fires of Hell, obviously. And our eyes were drawn to the front grille, where to our horror we saw a collection of the most terrifying stuffed animals on Earth. I’m pretty certain they come to life at midnight, and stuff.

As I say, this was coming from a sidestreet, so we passed it. We looked in the rearview mirror to make sure it wasn’t following us, and it was gone. Vanished. No trace.

djs are heroes to most but the suckers don’t mean shit to me

Hewlett-Packard seems to be a pretty cool place. From the AYBABTU monitor screen, to this research into giving a computer the mad DJ skillz. Definitely check out the demo. I’m embarrassed to say that most my mixes sounded more like the “bad example”.

Could my PC be the next Man Like?

(well, no, unless HP can teach a computer how to do things like play Vangelis’ Chung Kuo at midnight on New Year’s Eve.. magic)

new math

Alias|Wavefront announced that it is shipping Maya 4, the sixth major release of its professional 3D animation and visual effects software.

Does anyone else find that funny? Maya 4, but sixth release?

stupid is as stupid does

A couple of weeks ago, we were all goofing around with one of those little sucker things, as you’d find attaching a prostrate Garfield to a car window. We were sticking them to our foreheads then taking them off. Sam and I were, anyway - Amy left hers on too long and it left a big red mark for a few days.

Pretty obvious, right? I mean, you’d have to be stupid to think it wouldn’t happen if you left it on too long.

So today I stick one on my forehead and leave it there for a while - apparently forgetting what happened to Amy - then complain about the huge red mark on my forehead that won’t go away. How dumb am I?

sick of it

Dunno about you, but I’m sick of looking at those three article links at the top of the page. We need more content.

eclectic

It sure is an interesting playlist now that I’ve moved all my MP3s into Amy’s directory. Anita Ward next to Stretch & Vern. Allman Brothers Band next to DJ Food. Led Zeppelin next to Michael Viner’s Incredible Bongo Band. And what the hell? You have a Sarah McLachlan song here, woman! Oh wait, so do I. But mine’s remixed.

I’m Learnding

BCC ROX! Do I sound like a college student? No? Shut up. Anyway, I’m pretty sure I nailed an A for my Media 109 class, which means I’m on to Media 101 this fall. I used to hate the “adult students” when I went to Iowa State University, what with their baggy skin and that terrible, pitious look of hope in their faces…but I’m not like them, because I don’t come to campus. So nyah. Also, I don’t wear the Stevie Nicks-style skirts that seemed so popular with the “Baby Boomers Tryin’ School Again” set.

classy intellectual

[23:28] (DreamM-5D) someone listening to this would probably think i am a dirty old man sitting in a VR in the middle of nowhere… instead of a classy intellectual with a taste for the unusual.

bzzzt

Erotic Electronic Stereo Sexual Stimulation Techniques. I had to post it. My favorite is the “how to make ”probes’ and ‘electrodes’ from easily found items”. Btw, unlike a lot of the links I post, this one doesn’t actually show anything rude, or use naughty language, although I wouldn’t reccomend browsing the site. At least it’s better than The Sparkler (no, I’m not linking it, no!)
