Charlotte's WebSam recently finished reading Charlotte's Web by EB White. As part of this unit, he wrote a "narration" - a paragraph describing what has happened in the book or story - after each chapter or chapters he read at a time. I've typed up his narration verbatim, and I'll scan the notebook pages soon so that his family and friends can see the nice handwriting skills that he worked very hard to sharpen this year.
Charlotte's Web
In the second chapter Fern kept raising Wilbur but he started to grow and had to live with the Zuckermans once agian Fern was sad.
Chapt 3
Chapt 4
In the next chapter Wilbur met a spider called Charlotte. She is very clever but then Wilbur is going to be killed. And also Charlotte drinks blood. In the next chapter the goose's goslings have arrived! But one of the eggs is missing! Templeton took it! I think he wants to eat it!
(Sam wrote a poem about Wilbur)
In the next chapter Wilbur is going to be killed bad news Wilbur has found out! He is very sad but Charlotte is going save him. In the next chapter this isn't very much about Wilbur but mark my words it is about something...It is about Fern she has a habit of thinking that animals can talk! Then Fern's family had a talk a family talk. They talked about what Fern saw at the barn. She said that she can talk to animals but Ferns family doesn't believe her. In the next chapter Wilbur tries to spin a web but he can't. Even Charlotte says he can't and then Fern and Avory came to the barn. (Avory shown on first chapter). Avory has a pet frog. Then there was an explosion, and then it was mostly about the spider saving Wilbur. In the next chapter the Zuckermans find the trick on the web. Weaved into the web are the words "some pig". Now everyone knows about it, even the minister knows. Then there was a meeting, and in the meeting the other animals found out! found out as in finding out about the writing in the web! In the next chapter there is going to be another writing to save Wilburs life. tbc (Sam says "tbc" stands for "to be continued.") Then the new writing began and the people of the barn saw it and now thought that that runt\no more runt was terrific. The new writing was now from a soap ad. Then that night Charlotte told Wilbur two stories about two cousins and a song and after the song Fern (who came to the barn recently) went home. tbc In the next chapter Mrs. Arbel (Fern's mom) went to Doctor Dorian for advice and they talked and talked on and on about Fern. When Mrs. Arbel left. She was relieved because she was concerned about Fern because she was going to the barn every day! That is why she was relieved. tbc In the next chapter Wilbur is going to the fair!!!! Cricets are chirping and people go to bed. tbc The trip begins!! Wilbur struggles, but he is going. tbc The Zuckermans took Wilbur to the fair. At the fair, there was a bigger pig named Uncle. Charlotte talked to him to find out what he was. He was nice and not mean. In the crate Wilbur slept. Charlotte was making something - it was an egg-sac! She had 514 eggs! She was getting old, old, old, old, old, old, old, and old. She wove in her web the last word: humble and Uncle won first prize! In the last chapter Charlotte dies and Wilbur replaced her with her children. Some of them left 3 of them stayed. Wilbur never ever forgot Charlotte who was a good friend and a good writer. the end |
Famous homeschooler:
Thomas Edison
"When Thomas Edison was seven, after 12 weeks in a one-room schoolhouse with 39 other students of all ages, Tom's overworked and short tempered teacher lost his patience with the child's persistent questioning and relatively self centered behavior. He also noted that Tom's head was "slightly larger than average," and made no secret of his belief that the youngster's might be "addled" or scrambled...when his beloved mother - the person whom Edison said "was the making of me because she was the only person who truly understood me... was so true to me and sure of me and someone to live for that I must not disappoint"- became aware of the situation, she promptly withdrew him from school and began to "home-teach" him." |
